Cat Litter Woes

We have 4 cats at my house. Buddy, Wendy, Champ and Callie. Buddy is 23. Champ is 4 months old and we bottle fed him from birth after he was abandoned by his mother. Our vet told us that clay based litters were bad for kittens so we started trying non-clay based litters. My wife is also somewhat of a recycling nut and she said that clay based litters are a real problem for our landfills (apparently it expands to 10-15 times its volume when it is dumped in a landfill). We tried Feline Pine and a recycled newspaper litter. We also tried a product called Health Meter but it is a silica based product and our vet told us that silica based litters can cause respiratory problems with our cats. All three had issues for us and our cats. We found on-line a green biodegradeable litter called Perfect Litter (Perfectlitter.com). We ordered it online and it is delivered to our door every month. Great odor control, no dust, minimal tracking and very light weight and as a bonus it detects urinary tract infections. We really like this litter and so do our four cats. We won't use anything else for them. Has anyone else tried this new litter?

Comment: I've been using Feline Pine Clumping litter for about a year. It's hard to find. Target is the only store that carries it in my area. I like it because it is a safe, environmentally friendly litter, and is lightweight! It is like sawdust. It also clumps ve...

I have a cat, Smokey, that only will go on a piece of paper such as newspaper, however, it doesn't absorb the urine and I have to change it often. Have any suggestions?
