nylabone chews

As I have just come from a web page where countless dog owners recounted how their pets either died or suffered severe illness and had to have surgery to remove pieces of Nylabone that had become lodged in their intentines, I feel compelled to inform whoever is reading this advice that Nylabone chews are NOT SAFE!!! There were even many instances where these dogs were chewing on Nylabone's "safe, edible" chews when this occurred. The pieces that broke off were too large to pass, and too hard to dissolve, and the sharp ends punctured the dogs intestines and bowels when they became stuck. Imagine your dog dying because of something you gave him to improve his teeth. Not to mention the thousands of dollars these owners spent on surgery trying to save their pets. I wanted to pass this information on as I luckily stumbled upon it myself while trying to get reviews of pet toys. I just bought my dog a Nylabone edible dental chew today for Christmas. I plan on returning it to Petco and complaining to them that they sell such a dangerous product. On a positive note, I've heard nothing but good things about the Kong chews, which don't have parts that be easily chewed off, and have clear, written instructions that you should inspect the Kong regularly to check for cracks and replace when you see them. Hope this helps.
