Sifter boxes

I use a sifter box for my cats, but instead of leaving the sifter on the top for the cats to step on, I leave it in the middle of the two regular containers. When I take it out to empty it, I take the top box and dump it into the sifter, which is sitting on top of the other box, make sure anything stuck inside is emptied, then set it down. Then grab the sifter pull it out, and waste comes out, and the now sifted litter sits in the other box. Empty the sifter, set it on the empty box, then put the box with litter on the top of the sifter, which is now in the middle again. That way the cats don't have to worry about feet going in the sifter holes and so forth.
It's the easiest way I have found to take care of my three cat's litter box.
